Friends of Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center is excited to announce our line-up of avalanche safety courses for the 2023/24 winter season. We hope you will join us this winter to further your backcountry and avalanche safety education here in the Idaho Panhandle!

Avalanche Education for skiers and splitboarders, as well as snowmobilers and snowbikers

Our education season runs from late December to early April. Non-motorized classes are held at Schweitzer Mountain and Silver Mountain. Motorized courses are held in Priest Lake and Wallace, Idaho. Level 1 and 2 courses have a required classroom portion that can be completed online at your own pace. Courses follow the American Avalanche Association guidelines and are taught by A3 Member instructors.

Our education program offers FREE Avalanche Awareness Courses at locations across the Inland Northwest. No registration is necessary and classes are held in the evenings. These courses generally run from October to December. All levels of experience are welcome:
